Why you should visit a National Museum?

Warm National Museum radiosarajevo.baAfter it was re-opened for visitors four months ago, the National Museum of B&H became one of the favorite destinations for tourists who visit Sarajevo,

All the more, the Museum again became an interesting destination to go out for the people of Sarajevo as well, because there is always something to be seen even if you have visited it before.

Although the temperature is below zero outside, it is warm enough in the Museum for the visitors to feel pleasant. The botanic garden encased in ice and tombstones that have been under hundreds of snows so far do not lose their charm in grey, winter days either.

Ticket for the Museum costs only six BAM, while the children and senior tickets can be bought for 3 BAM. Entrance to the treasury room where the most valuable exhibits are placed costs 10 BAM, and one must pay 30 BAM to see the Sarajevo Haggadah – one of the most important pieces in the Museum, brought by Sephardic Jews to Sarajevo after the expulsion from Spain.

Speaking of what arouses the greatest interest, the curator of the National Museum of B&H Marica Filipović says that children are mostly interested in animals at the Department of natural sciences, while the adults, depending on the interest, prefer exhibitions in the Department of archaeology and ethnology.

When it comes to the book of impressions, the visitors mostly express gratitude for the re-opening of the Museum. They highlight the value of the exhibits and permanent exhibitions through which the cultural and natural heritage is available to the citizens and preserved for the future, Filipović said.

Museum is open from Tuesday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. and during the weekends between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. the Museum is closed on Mondays.
