The respected journal Foreign Affairs published an article written by Timothy Less, in which the author stated that the solution for lasting peace in the Balkans area is Greater Serbia, Albania and Croatia. Article commented Jasmin Mujanovic, a political analyst specialized for Southeast Europe.
“There will be no war because there is no one to fight it, it is as simple as that,” said Mujanovic.
He claims that these are small lobbying circles with extreme and radical elements in the local political establishment, but that “someone significant in Washington, London or Berlin agrees with these views, absolutely not happening.”
Less in his article talks about the problems of minorities in some countries of the former Yugoslavia and that it would be the best to join these parts in “the mother country”.
“Of course that there are problems, but all citizens in these countries have problems. The simplest is for radicals to say ‘these are national issues and on that basis these problems should be solved. The same story was in the nineties, and we know how it ended. Less is writing science fiction, but a dangerous science fiction,” warned Mujanovic.
What is the chance that the new Trump’s administration is prone to such a resolution? According to Mujanovic, very small.
“America will enter the important constitutional crisis due to Donald Trump in January. The very idea that this same America or even the European Union, which is also in a period of crisis, would start war or a new crisis in the Balkans is almost non-existing. We have wars in Ukraine, Syria, Iraq, the situation in Turkey is also terrible…”
