The Institute for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology today presented a 3D reconstruction of a human face from the period of medieval Bosnia based on genetic information.

The institute called the project “The face of medieval Bosnia”.

The scientific research project presents a 3D reconstruction of a human face based on genetic information from archaeological samples dating from the 14th/15th century.

The research started in 2021 and was supported by the Ministry of Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton.

Excavations were carried out in 2015, and genetic analysis determined that the person was male, 35 to 40 years old.
