Women Workers in Srebrenica insulted on a national basis, do not feel safe

Melisa Ibrahimović and Melisa Suljić, employees of the Srebrenica branch of the textile company “6. novembar” from Zvornik decided not to go to work today, because, as they say, they don’t feel safe.

Ibrahimović claims that, although after several months of conflicts and provocations on a national basis sent by three colleagues from work, a meeting was held with the owner, there were no expected results.

The epilogue of everything was the indictment against Esad Ibrahimović, Melissa’s husband, who visited the company to try to solve the problem. Suljić and Ibrahimović are among six returnees out of a total of 30 women who work in this plant.

“Recently, we suffered mobbing and national insults at work, which no normal person would suffer. We rebelled, like any normal person who has their own human rights. We asked for our rights, we were promised, however, obviously everything was not respected to the end”, says Melisa Suljić.

“I am really surprised and shocked because I have been working in the textile industry for more than 40 years, that is, in ready-made clothing. I opened that facility to employ unemployed women and returnees, and those who are domiciled there. There was some sort of argument and that argument turned into an awkward situation that made Melissa cry. The next day, I called a meeting at the plant, invited them all and decided that, since this is a family business, I want and only want a family atmosphere”, says the director of the company, Jakov Galić.
