neum-stolac-roadThe Minister of Transportation and Communications of BiH Denis Lasić stated yesterday that funds have been provided for the first section of the road Babin do – Broćanac, and that the works on this part of the future highway Neum – Stolac will commence soon.

Construction of the new highway Neum – Stolac is one of the priorities in Herzegovina. With the implementation of this project, the only BiH city on the seaside would finally be connected in a proper way with the rest of the country and its perspective for development would be significantly improved.

This topic has been discussed for years, millions were invested in certain parts of the project, but the construction has not begun yet.

According to the Prime Minister of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Nevenko Herceg, the canton invested several million BAM so far in order to complete the necessary paperwork for the project, but the canton cannot work independently on this project.

“Better connectivity between Neum and the rest of the country is an interest of all of us and we all must work on that. I expect the federal authorities to launch the implementation of this project and thus realize the promise given to the citizens of Neum long ago,” said Herceg.
