he-vranduk-gradit-ce-konzorcij-firmiWorks on the construction of the first postwar hydro power plant by the Public Enterprise Elektroprivreda BiH, the HPP Vranduk, are scheduled to begin today with an official opening of the construction site.

Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Bakir Izetbegović, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić, Prime Minister of FBiH Fadil Novalić and federal Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Nermin Džindić were to attend the official opening.

HPP Vranduk, with an installed power of 19,6 MW, will produce 100 GWh of electrical energy annually, thus increasing the share of electrical energy from renewable sources with the aim of decreasing the emission of CO2.

Construction of this hydro power plant will enable employment of domestic workforce, especially in construction sector, while the period of exploitation of the facility will ensure opening of new workplaces and distribution of concession, water and other kinds of reimbursements, as well as multi-million income for local community and the FBiH.

This project is financed with the funds of Elektroprivreda biH and credits from the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Completion of works is expected on November 11, 2019.
