In organisation of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), BiH Government and numerous local partners will have the honour to mark the World Environment Day, as the host for the region of Europe. The marking will start on 3 Juna and it will last for 3 days and it will end on 5 June.
Representative of UNEPAmina Omičević said to Fena that every year on 5 June, people from all over the World mark the World Environment Day.
According to her, the theme of this year’s World Environment Day is intended to reduce the quantity of food waste and it is being held under the motto ‘Think.Eat.Save’
Omičević noted that the main message of Sarajevo event will be ‘Share Food, Share Information, Share knowledge’.
She added that that message portrays the concept of sharing as a universal response to global challenges of today and it reflects the tradition of BiH and Sarajevo which implies helping your neighbours, family, foreigners with greatest attention, sharing your meals with those need them.
As a part of marking this event, on 3 June, there will be a round table on sharing and innovations and the official of the marking of the World Environment Day in Sarajevo will start with the screening of the documentary ‘Taste the Waste’.
On 4 June, citizens will have the opportunity to participate in the public marking of the World Environment Day in Vilsonovo Šetaliste during which there will be a cycling event for children and young people; they will also have the opportunity to taste traditional Spanish meals, while in the evening hours of that same day, two exhibitions will be held.
On the World Environment Day, BiH Presidency will be the host of the central event of marking of this day, during which a Report on the State of Environment in BiH will be presented, and the solemn award ceremony for the best work on reporting on environment of OSCE Mission to BiH will be held as well.
