roma peopleSince 2011, World Vision and Roma community leaders established three HIV Information Centers, as part of the project that aims to ensure sustainable prevention of HIV transmission amongst Roma, the largest and the most vulnerable minority in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Activities of these Centers include education, information-sharing, promotion and awareness-raising on HIV and AIDS prevention in Roma communities, monitoring of outreach activities, cooperation with relevant health institution regarding different health issues and organizing public events and round tables.

Also, World Vision has been conducting an HIV Stigma Reduction project that involves representatives of the faith-based organizations (Muslim, Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and Jewish) in the implementation of country’s HIV Program through sensitizing religious leaders and their communities to the needs of people affected by HIV/AIDS and mobilizing them to implement activities on HIV prevention, advocacy, care and support. By providing faith workers with tools needed to spread constructive messages of tolerance in line with their faith doctrines, the Project has initiated a powerful process with a potential to reach to all segments of society and has already had visible and strong non-health impact of peace and consensus building.
