Xi to Putin: China-Russia Relations contribute to global Stability

Relations between Beijing and Moscow contribute to “global peace and stability,” Chinese President Xi Jinping said, according to state media.

Xi said this during a conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Beijing, who is on a two-day state visit to China.

“The stability and development of China-Russia relations not only serve the fundamental interests of both countries and their peoples, but also contribute to regional and global peace, stability and prosperity,” Xi said.

A festive welcome was arranged for Putin. This is Putin’s first visit since the beginning of his fifth presidential term after the election in March.

China and Russia declared an “unrestricted” partnership in February 2022 when Putin visited Beijing, just days before launching a “special military operation” in Ukraine.

Xi visited Russia in March last year, and the two last met at the 3rd Forum in October in the Chinese capital.

“Sino-Russian relations have strengthened despite ups and downs, and have withstood the test of the changing international landscape,” Xi said.

The Chinese president said that his country is ready to cooperate with Russia in order to remain good neighbors, good friends and partners who trust each other.

He added that the goal is to continue to strengthen the permanent friendship between the two peoples and to jointly strive for appropriate national development and revitalization and support fairness and justice in the world.
