Students from the Gymnasium Obala from Sarajevo joined forces and their creativity in order to collect funds needed for the reconstruction of the roof of the B&H Historical Museum. Young people decided to become activated and to help prevent the Historical Museum from the same fate as the National Museum.
In cooperation with other high school students from Sarajevo, the Gymnasium Obala will organize the manifestation ‘Od Kulina do današnjih dana” (from Kulin to today), which will be held on 8 February starting at 12:30 on the premises of the B&H Historical Museum. Their motto is ‘Get to Know the Past In Order to Love the Future’.
‘’We will come alive and present the most important periods from the history of B&H, from Kulin Ban to today, and the name of the project carries this name. As part of the manifestation, we will draw special attention to the memory of the Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo. In the room of memories, we will present artifacts from this period, and celebrate Vučko’s 30th birthday’’, said students Alem Hamzić and Ajša Džindo.
In order to collect as many resources, students will organize a sale of art works at an exhibition done by high school students from Canton Sarajevo. Students said that they wish to draw public attention to the deterioration of an extremely valuable and important cultural heritage of our country, and to break away from the oblivion of B&H history in order to not lose their cultural identity.
‘’When young people agree, everything is possible! We will not allow the B&H Historical Museum to be brought to a situation like the National Museum’’, said students at the Obala Gymnasium.
The project “Od Kulina bana do današnjih dana” is implemented with the support of the NGO Infohouse.
