The spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Maria Zakharova, said that the visit of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to the Balkans was of a provocative and destructive nature with the intention of shaking up the situation in the region.
“Stoltenberg’s stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia was clearly provocative in nature. He tried to get involved in the internal affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to force this country to approach the North Atlantic structures, he aggressively proposed increasing cooperation with Belgrade, despite the neutral status of Serbia, accusing Russia for all their sins, they presented it in such a way that they were allegedly working on spreading, while working on disinformation and undermining the situation in the Balkans,” Zakharova said.
She also said that Stoltenberg’s trip to the Balkans is additional evidence of the destructive course of the North Atlantic bloc, aimed at increasing the attraction of countries in the region to this structure, which are still outside the alliance.
“We start from the fact that NATO must stop its policy of destabilizing the Balkans, imposes its own rules there, creates new lines of division. As history shows, the influence of the alliance in the Balkans is always accompanied by sadness, loss of life, destruction and war crimes,” Zakharova concluded, TASS writes.
