“Željeznice Republike Srpske” transported 5.4 million tons of goods in 2012, which is around 10 percent more than in 2011. Thus, the revenue from the freight traffic increased by 10 percent, according to a report of the BiH Regulatory Board Railways.

According to this report, “Željeznice Republike Srpske” made significant and daring reform ventures and entered the organizational and financial process of separation operational and infrastructure costs.

“It should be noted that ‘Željeznice Republike Srpske’ was the first in the region to give importance to local operators and local companies, which is logical because only local companies employ their citizens and make contributions in the RS’’, said in the report of the Regulatory Board, which is responsible for controlling the railway sector in BiH in accordance with EU standards.

Obtaining licenses to operation international freight and passenger traffic, “Željeznice Republike Srpske” is able to enter the international market and increase transport volume.

In the report, it says that the global European railways restructuring process involves the greatest reform in the last 100 years.

The Director of “Željeznice Republike Srpske” Dragan Savanović said that “Željeznica Republike Srpske” increased its workload by 10 percent, and at the same time reduced operating costs by more than three percent. This means there is a rational disposal of resources.

“Our goal is for the next period to balance future revenues and services. I would emphasize that, even if there was a crisis in 2012, we have achieved a record result in transport’’, said Savanović.
