The Chairman of the House of Representatives of the PSBiH Denis Zvizdić met today in Madrid with the President of the Congress of Representatives of the Kingdom of Spain Maritxell Batet and thanked her for the support of the EU path of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He said that the Kingdom of Spain has never had any doubts regarding the correctness of such a decision and that Bosnia and Herzegovina especially appreciates that. He expressed the hope that EU support for Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue after the Kingdom of Spain assumes the presidency of the Council of the European Union on July 1, 2023. He said that BiH, as a candidate country, is ready to participate in every phase of the Kingdom of Spain’s presidency of the EU, including the parliamentary dimension.
During the meeting, they discussed the work of the parliaments and the current political and economic situation in both countries. It was emphasized that the bilateral relations between BiH and the Kingdom of Spain are good and without open issues and that in the coming period it is necessary to strengthen both economic and inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Chairman Zvizdić and President Batet agree that there is room for improving inter-parliamentary cooperation through the organization of joint parliamentary forums, bilateral visits, and cooperation within the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean, whose members include Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Kingdom of Spain.
President Batet invited lecturer Zvzdić to attend the conference on the occasion of Parliamentarianism Day on June 30 this year, and chairman Zvizdić invited the president of the Spanish Congress of Representatives to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of the parliamentary dimension of the Spanish presidency of the EU Council.
During the visit, Speaker Zvizdić was presented with a silver box with a copy of the Constitution from 1978 and a ceremony was held to enter the book of honored guests of the Congress of Representatives. The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of BiH to the Kingdom of Spain, Danka Savić.
