Hotel Holiday officially started its work, and Rasim Bajrovic, the CEO of the Hotel Europe Group, which is the new owner of the hotel, said that they employed 90 workers so far and that they are planning to hire another 100 workers until the New Year. He also added that the renovation and reconstruction of the hotel will cost between 7 and 10 million BAM.
Bajrovic said that 170 new rooms, meeting rooms, cafe restaurant, parking and other contents are in the function.
“Only when we hire 100 new workers, the hotel will operate at its full capacity. We returned all the employees who lost their jobs during the bankruptcy proceedings at their previous jobs, and most of them came back from the bureau. We also hope that there will be a lot of applications through public invitation that we posted on Monday, since workers who want engagement are welcome in our hotel,” said Bajrovic.
When asked why he decided to join hotel Holiday to his group, he said that he wants to return social responsibility and that the group is working absolutely legalistic.
“The management of the hotel Europe has paid 20 million of VAT and 4 million of income taxes in 8 years, and we pay 400,000 BAM of tourist taxes every year. We are company in trend, and our wish is to return legality to the hotel, to affirm hotel business and, ultimately, return the old shine to Sarajevo. We are planning to return all devastated areas back into accommodation facilities of the hotel, and we renovated absolutely everything – beds, toilets, carpets, kitchen… When it comes to the exterior, we will keep the look of yellow cube that is known worldwide as a symbol of the Olympic Games in Sarajevo in 1984,” said Bajrovic.
All works at the hotel Holiday should be completed by November. Official opening of the hotel is scheduled on the 20th of August, and in the same place will be held the closure of the Sarajevo Film Festival.
