Farmers in Bosnia request over Two Hundred Million BAM

Farmers in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina request that 202 million BAM be planned for agriculture in the FBiH budget for 2023, instead of the proposed 160 million BAM.

The President of the FBiH Farmers’ Association, Nedžad Bićo, pointed out today at a press conference in Vogošća that this is the minimum that is legally prescribed for agriculture in the budget, that is, three percent of the total proposed budget of the FBiH.

He said that he would send this request to the Government and the Parliament of the FBiH, and that they would insist that the budget and incentive program be adopted within the legal deadline.

“The costs of agricultural production have increased by 400 percent, and the purchase prices are not even close to these price increases,” emphasized Bićo.

He stated that the purchase price of a liter of milk is 0.70 BAM, while the price in stores is 3 BAM, which means that some who have nothing to do with agricultural production are making huge profits while farms in BiH are being shut down.

Bićo said that it is the government’s mistake to rely on the import of low-quality agricultural products that are cheaper than domestic ones, instead of supporting domestic ones so that they are more competitive on the market, Fena reports.
