Center for the Promotion of Civil Society and the Swedish International Development Organization SIDA, signed an agreement on the implementation of the two-year project, for the Small Grants Program (SGP) titled “Be the Change”.
On this occasion, it is distributed 100. 000 KM for 20 civil society organizations and informal groups from all across the country. The main objective of the program is to strengthen and encourage civil society organizations (CSO) and citizens to use the existing resources and to identify the most effective ways to solve problems in their communities.
The Small Grants Program is one of many programs implemented through Center for promotion of Civil Society.
The mission of the Center for the Promotion of Civil Society is to strengthen the civil society in B&H through supporting the development of civil society organizations and their mutual cooperation and networking, establishing a framework for effective relationships with government and with the profit sector and the development of civic activism. The mission of the Center for the Promotion of the Civil Society is to promote the non-profit sector as a quality and an indispensable actor in the socio-economic development of the country.
On the basis of public calls and through the media, the Center in the period of two years will support over 90 projects in local communities all over the country with a maximum value of 5 000 KM per project.
“Civil society organizations and informal groups of citizens that act within PMG will receive grants for the implementation of projects aimed at improving the quality of life in the community. Organizations that enter the second round of selection with have the assistance of experienced mentors in the preparation of the project proposal. Those organizations whose projects are selected for funding with have the help of the mentor until the end of project implementation. In addition, organizations have to undergo trainings on financial and administrative management of grants and training on public relations. Most organizations after the implementation of the project within the Small Grants Program gain experience and knowledge that they need to implement large and demanding project “, said Dragana Grbić-Hasibović, the Project Manager for Center for Promotion of Civil Society.
Mario Vignjević, the Program Manager of SIDA in B&H for the Small Grants Program “Be the change” states the following:
“SGP is an instrument by which civil society organizations and citizens who want to be actors of change in their local communities can affect positive changes. It is a program through which with a little effort, goodwill and resources can make a serious change in their local communities”.
