11 % more Tourists visited BiH in the first 6 Months of 2017

In the first half of 2017, a total of 562,101 tourists visited BiH, which is by 11.1 % more in comparison to the same period last year.

According to the Agency for Statistics of BiH, tourists realized a total of 1,128,476 overnight stays in the first two quarters, which is 11 % more compared to the same period in 2016.

The number of overnight stays of domestic tourists is by 2.5 % higher, while the number of overnight stays of foreign tourists is higher by 15.4 %.

When it comes to the total number of overnight stays, the share of domestic tourists is 31.5 %, while the share of foreign tourists is 68.5 %.

In the structure of overnight stays of foreign tourists, most of overnight stays were realized by tourists from Croatia – 15.3 %, then Serbia 10.2 %, Turkey 7.9 %, Italy 5.7 %, Slovenia 5.5 %, Germany 4 %, United Arab Emirates 3.8 % and South Korea 3.6 %, while tourists from other countries realized a total of 44 % of overnight stays.

When it comes to the length of stay of foreign tourists in BiH in the first half, at the first place is Ireland with an average of 3.6 overnight stays, then Kuwait with 3.3 overnight stays, Qatar with 3.2 overnight stays, Bahrain and Malta with 3.1 overnight stays, and Romania and Iran with 3 overnight stays.

According to the type of accommodation, the largest number of overnight stays was realized in the hotels and similar accommodation facilities, with a share of 93.1 %.

A total of 125,616 tourists visited BiH in the month of June, which is 8.9 % less when compared to May and 20 % higher when compared to June 2016.

Tourists realized a total of 243,477 overnight stays in June, which represents a decrease by 8.9 % when compared to May, but it is 17.5 %  more when compared to June last year.

The share of domestic tourists in the total number of overnight stays in this period is 27.4 %, while foreign tourists realized 72.6 %.

The number of overnight stays of domestic tourists in June is lower by 24.4 % in comparison to May, and by 4.2 % lower than June, while the number of overnight stays of foreign tourist was decreased by 1.3 % in comparison to May, and by 28.5 % higher in comparison to June last year.

In the structure of overnight stays of foreign tourist, most of them were realized by tourists from Serbia – 9.4 %, Poland 9.3 %, Croatia 7.9 %, Italy 6.5 %, Turkey 5.5 %, Slovenia 5.2 %, and USA 4.9 %, while tourists from other countries realized a total of 51.3 % of the overnight stays.

When it comes to the length of stay of foreign tourists in BiH in the month of June, Ireland was at the first place with an average stay of 3.9 overnight stays, then Qatar with 3.4 overnight stays, Bahrain with 3.3 overnight stays, Kuwait and Iran with 3.2 overnight stays, and Romania with 3.1 overnight stays.
