Admir Zatega, Tarik Džaka, Muhamed Hamzić and Stevo Mitrić made up the team led by Alija Husić and Jan Ahmetspahić, which represented B&H at the Junior Balkan Olympiad in Informatics (JBOI), held from the 14th to 19th of September in Ohrid (Macedonia).
After a number of activities organized by the Association Bosnia and Herzegovina Olympiad in Informatics (BHOI), free 3-months long preparation for all elementary school students in B&H on the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) which was held by the former competitor Ali Husic together with other members of BHOI, number of specialized online trial competitions and finally the national competition in informatics for the elementary school students, these students proved that they are the best, thus qualifying for the Junior Balkan Olympiad in Informatics (JBOI).
Five-day long intensive preparations were organized for 4 representatives of the B&H national team right before the competition as well, within which advanced topics of programming and algorithmic solving of problems were discussed.
Elementary school students, who proved to be the best at the previous levels of competition, participated at the event, which has been organized every year. By solving problems and competing with their talented peers, as well as with their own work and knowledge, total of 39 participants from 10 countries in the region participated at the competition.
Participants from B&H achieved solid success this year. 11-year old Admir Zatega, who is attending 6th grade of elementary school “Mehmed Kapetanović” in Sarajevo, won the bronze medal, while the rest of our participants achieved important results as well. Admir was the youngest medalist as well as the youngest participant on this year’s competition.
