Trust in Media hercegbosna.orgIn the era of “new post-true and false news”, media freedom was never more endangered than now and especially after Donald Trump’s election for US president, Reporters Without Boundaries stated in their report.

The top five positions on the status of media freedom are occupied by Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and the Netherlands.

Speaking about countries in region, of the 180 countries ranked, Slovenia is ranked 37th, BiH at 65th position, Serbia at 66, Croatia at 74, Montenegro at 106, and Macedonia at 111th position.

Report adds that the situation is on the margins, and that media freedom has been jeopardized by increasing surveillance and strengthening of authoritarian leaders around the world.

The United States and Britain fell to two positions in the index, at 43 and 40 position, according to a Paris-based organization.

“It seems that no one is concerned with erosion of media freedom in leading democracies. Media freedom was never so endangered” the report says.

The situation is “very serious” in 72 countries, including Russia, India and China.

Poland and Hungary were particularly criticized in the report.
