childrenThe Organizing Committee of the Diplomatic bazaar in 2016 has awarded 130,000 BAM to charities. Representing the record number of money collected so far, all will be given to children with needs from BiH.

The members of the Organizing Committee of the Diplomatic Bazaar Caroline Ferguson (United Kingdom), Mariette Kraak (Netherlands) and Sandra Horowitz (USA) emphasized that children are often invisible and marginalized and they did not choose the circumstances in which they live. Moreover, they expressed the hope that this financial support will help to improve their quality of life.

“With the support of sponsors we were able to cover all the costs of maintaining the bazaar, so that money collected that day was going directly to charitable organizations,” said Ferguson, wife of the British Ambassador to BiH.

Diplomatic Winter Bazaar 2016 brought together 40 embassies and more than 70 non-governmental organizations and exhibitors from all over BiH. Mariette Kraak, wife of Dutch Ambassador, said that each of these organizations do not have sufficient resources nor the personnel, and that authorities should think about the future of these children because they are  “the key to the future”.

Cheques were presented to representatives of the Center Christine Witcutt in Sarajevo (for children with special needs), Franciscan International Student Centre (helping young people who live in difficult conditions), SOS Srebrenica (project aimed at strengthening the family), orphanage Los Rosales in Mostar, “Give us chance “in Sarajevo (helps families of children with special needs), the Association” Heart for children with cancer in FBiH “(supports families throughout BiH) and” education builds BiH “(through education supports young people).

The checks for the organizations Downsy from Banja Luka, and Friendly house in Doboj, will be delivered on Monday.
