The investigative commission on the events on the Syrian coast in March published its findings on Tuesday, stating that government forces were subjected to violations of the law by remnants of the deposed supporters of President Bashar al-Assad.

The commission, which presented the findings at a press conference after having presented the details to President Ahmed al-Sharaa in recent days, stated that it confirmed 1.426 deaths, mostly civilians, in the violence.

“On March 6th, the remnants carried out a series of widespread hostile operations, targeting military and security headquarters, checkpoints, and patrols with heavy, medium, and light weapons,”said the commission’s spokesperson Yasser al-Farhan.

“The remnants cut off main roads and killed 238 members of the security and military forces in the governorates of Latakia, Tartus, and Hama,” said al-Farhan.

The commission clarified that those commonly referred to as “remnants” are defined as remaining organized armed groups linked to the former Al-Assad regime that operate outside the law.
