Last year in Banja Luka, 151 dogs from the shelter for stray dogs were adopted, and 23 lost dogs were returned to their owners. In 2013, the Hygienist Service of the city of Banja Luka took in 373 abandoned dogs and 256 puppies, said on the Internet site of the City Administration of Banja Luka.
The Service said that responsible ownership is one of the most important factors in solving the problem of stray dogs.
The Hygienist Service works daily in taking care of stray dogs, and also intervenes when citizens call in alerts.
Adoption is free, and all dogs in the adoption program are healthy, vaccinated and sterilized.
