The body of 65-years old Pavo Mucic from Konjic, whose disappearance was reported on Friday, was found in Lake Jablanica on Sunday.

As confirmed by the duty prosecutor of the Herzegovina Neretva Canton Prosecutor’s Office, it is the body of Hague convict Zdravko Mucic Pava. The body was found on Saturday at around 3 pm in Lake Jablanica in the settlement of Cerići near Konjic.

Mucic was a passionate fisherman and diver and it is assumed that Mucic drowned, but an autopsy was ordered in order to determine the exact cause of death. According to the duty prosecutor, an external examination unequivocally established that the death was not caused by another person.

Zdravko Mucic was released from custody by The Hague tribunal in 2003 following a decision on his early release after serving two-thirds of his sentence.

Mucic was sentenced to nine years in prison for crimes against Serb detainees in the Celebici camp in central Bosnia in 1993 / ’94.

Due to the length of the proceedings in the Celebici case, he served his sentence in detention in Scheveningen.

As the first defendant in the Čelebići case, he was sentenced to seven years in prison on 16 November 1998, and in the second instance on 9 October 2001 the new Trial Chamber increased his sentence to nine years.
