The Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Selmo Cikotić, stated on Friday that the state of residence and movement of migrants in the Una-Sana Canton should return to what was in the reception centers until September 29, that is, until the closing of the “Bira” camp in the city of Bihac, because the decision on the opening and closing of that camp can be made by the Council of Ministers of BiH.
Cikotic said that this was one of the conclusions of the meeting attended by the Prime Minister of Una-Sana Canton Mustafa Ruznic, the Mayor of Bihac Suhret Fazlic and representatives of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Service for Foreigners and the Ministry of Security of BiH is the situation in relation to the stay and movement of migrants in the area of that canton.
Minister of Security pointed out that the second conclusion of the meeting was to continue all activities of state organizations and institutions, as well as international organizations involved in the process of treating migrants in accordance with international law and domestic legislation, as well as decisions of the BiH Presidency and BiH Council of Ministers and other actors and that further treatment of ‘migrants should work’ in line with these conclusions.
”These conclusions imply that migrants should be relocated from urban areas, but to facilities prepared for that. The hierarchy of the state should be respected here, because the municipal council or the cantonal government cannot dictate to state institutions about international organizations what they will do,” he emphasized.
The Minister claims that they did not agree with the first conclusion at the meeting, but that the others accepted and said that all those present at the meeting have clear responsibilities and that they will monitor the development of the situation in relation to those responsibilities.
