Head of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina Ambassador Kathleen Kavalec and Minister of Education, Science and Youth of the Sarajevo Canton Anis Krivic signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Monday to improve the inclusivity and quality of education through curricula based on student learning outcomes.

Two weeks after the OSCE Mission to BiH provided such support to the education system in Zenica, the signing in Sarajevo formalized cooperation with the SC Ministry of Education, Science and Youth.

Ambassador Kavalec stated that memorandum signing is an important step towards improving the quality of education, which is made possible by the strong commitment and readiness of the education authorities.

”I am grateful for the support of our partners, the governments of Norway and Italy, who have allocated funds for the implementation of the project of our Mission entitled ‘Curricular reform to quality education,” said Ambassador Kavalec.

She paid tribute to the educational authorities, institutions and teachers in the Sarajevo Canton for successfully organizing the teaching process in the circumstances of the pandemic.

She said that the OSCE Mission to BiH will remain a partner of the competent authorities in BiH and help provide inclusive quality education for all children.

“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were not able to present and implement the curriculum of the Sarajevo Canton to the public. Now the conditions are in place for us to do so. It is extremely important that we once again show our commitment to the reform process. We are continuing with accelerated steps, we will not allow the pandemic to hinder us more,” Krivic emphasized.

He added that this is the only right way to achieve better education together, and thus better working conditions for all teachers in the Sarajevo Canton.
