The biggest Solar Park in the Balkans to be built in Trebinje

After the Decision on granting a concession for the construction and use of the solar photovoltaic power plant “Trebinje 1”, which was adopted by the Government of Republika Srpska at a session earlier this month, the signing of the concession agreement for this power plant in the city of Trebinje was held.

The concession was awarded to the company Mixed Holding “Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske”, the parent company of Trebinje, whose director Luka Petrovic says that the final procedures are underway after many activities that were previously undertaken.

“The solar power plant is planned at 73 megawatts on the Zubac plateau near Trebinje, and on Monday we will sign a concession agreement for 50 years,” Petrovic pointed out, SA-C reports.

He explains that the investment in question is worth over one hundred million marks and will represent the largest solar park in the Balkans.

“It is expected that activities on the formation of a model for the construction of a solar power plant will start soon, so our expectations are that construction will start in the next six months,” Petrovic specified.

The realization of the entire project is expected in a period of 24 months from the date of entry into force of the concession agreement, and the concessionaire is obliged to pay a one-time fee in the amount of 503,750 BAM to the budget of Republika Srpska before signing the concession agreement, and in the amount of 0.0055 BAM per kilowatt-hour of electricity produced, of which 95% of the funds will be directed to the budget of the city of Trebinje.

“We expect about 100 gigawatt-hours of electricity per year from this solar power plant from renewable sources, which is a record in this area, so it will mean an improvement for the city of Trebinje,” said Petrovic.

In the end, he pointed out that Republika Srpska strives for the greatest possible development of “clean” energy from renewable sources, because it will have to face the obligation to pay fees for carbon dioxide emissions, which will raise electricity prices.
