The Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Zoran Tegeltija, talked on Friday via video link with the Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for Europe, Alfred Kammer.

The current pandemic situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the consequences for the administrative, health and economic system of the country were discussed.

Chairman Tegeltija pointed out that the current situation requires the full engagement of institutions at all levels of government, as well as the population, in order to stop the spread of the virus and prevent unwanted escalation.

He added that no one wants a new lockdown, which would be disastrous for the economy, and appealed to the population to adhere to the measures of the competent crisis headquarters.

Chairman Tegeltija expressed BiH’s interest in continuing co-operation with the IMF by opening a negotiation process on a new arrangement. He said a new arrangement with the financial institution would help overcome the economic and social crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
