Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sefik Dzaferovic met in Vienna with President of the Republic of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen, and during the meeting, the two officials pointed out that the bilateral relations between the two countries are at an extremely high level, and that there are no outstanding issues between the two countries.

During the meeting, it was stated that there is room for further strengthening of economic and cultural ties between the two countries and that the numerous Bosnian diaspora in Austria can play an important role in this.

The two also discussed the ongoing situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the severe consequences it will have on human health and the economy.

Dzaferovic informed President Van der Bellen about the political situation and relations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as about the steps that our country is taking on the European path, with the aim of obtaining an EU candidate status next year.

He thanked his counterpart for the wholehearted support that the Republic of Austria, as well as officials from this country who are engaged in the EU institutions and other international organizations in our country, have provided to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

President Van der Bellen emphasized that the Republic of Austria gives full support to Bosnia and Herzegovina on its European path. He was especially interested in the migrant crisis and emphasized that the Republic of Austria is ready to help BiH.

They also discussed the situation in the region, as well as BiH’s relations with neighboring countries.
