13046137_1757425481160795_148581325_nThis morning in Ahmici was not gloomy and smoky like after burned houses, murdered villagers and destroyed mosque as it happened 23 years ago. This morning dawned sunny day with fresh air, as fresh as memories of the locals whose family members were killed.

Members of the families of the killed residents of Ahmici today visited martyrs cemetery at Stari Vitez and dressed in the most beautiful clothes came to the graves of their fathers, brothers, husbands, mothers, children…

Elvedin Kermo, president of the Association “April 16”, with the Srebrenica flower on his lapel, today spoke about the murders in Ahmici committed by the HVO with the help of their neighbors.

“Memories on the 16th of April are sour even 23 years later, when we are marking the genocide in Ahmici that was committed by the HVO and our neighbors. We appeal to our neighbors for many years to help us find another 30 unidentified martyrs who are still missing” said Kermo.

He added that only Pasko Ljubicic was accused for the crimes in Ahmici, and for 116 victims were held responsible only Drago Josipovic and Miroslav Bravo Cicko.

“Is it possible that only two people could kill 116 people, a baby of three months and an 82 years old man? Testimonies of our witness are in drawers, and nobody is doing anything. Everyone needs to get prosecuted for their crimes. This will equalize the genocide in Ahmici with civilian deaths during the war. They are prosecuting Muslims in order to make parallel that it was a crime on both sides,” added Kermo.

“No imposed sentence can replace a lost victim, moan and persecution, and especially not the loss of our loved ones. This in Hague is a circus, and we all know what happened in Srebrenica, as well as in Ahmici. Our neighbors glorify criminals after sentence as heroes, but no one apologized for crimes in Ahmici. They do not want to say who committed the crimes either, and civilians were killed,” concluded Kermo.

Surah Ja-sin was recited at the martyr’s cemetery in Vitez for 116 killed villagers, and the program will be continued in Gornja mosque with a commemorative program and by laying flowers at the memorial near Donja mosque.
