cavara25th anniversary of the founding of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) was celebrated on Tuesday with the festive academy in the Croatian House “Herceg Stjepan Kosača” in Mostar.

“25 years is exceptionally long time, especially when we are aware of what our people and all the citizens of B&H went through in those 25 years. This is a big day for stable party of the Croatian people, the political option that is the most organized political option in B&H, without which is impossible to lead any activity in political or any other sort of life today,” said president of HDZ B&H and the Chairman of B&H Presidency, Dragan Čović, before the beginning of the festive academy.

He added that he is proud to represents the HDZ B&H and its 40,000 members on this day, and thanked the people who led the party since its establishment.

“B&H is expecting reorganization of its internal affairs to ensure the constitutional equality of all three nations and citizens. I believe that, in the last 25 years, we managed to send a clear message and to internationalize all of the problems that are standing in front of the citizens of B&H and I’m especially proud for that,” said Čović to the reporters.

When asked to comment relations in the government of the FB&H, Čović said that compromise between the position and opposition must be found in order for the government to be able to address the numerous problems.

“We have Federal Government now, and we will see whether it will be different or not very soon. We need more quality step forward in the construction of executive authority, regarding the difficult problems in front of us. We are trying to resolve the European path of B&H by joint action, to resolve the stability in the economic and political sense and to reorganize state. This is very complicated and it can hardly be done with minority government,” said Čović.

According to him, if the relations in FB&H get as they should, then certain changes in the Council of Ministers of B&H could happen that would result in improved relations in the government at the state level.

Discussing his recent activities as the Chairman of the Presidency of B&H, Čović announced, among others, meeting with the President of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolić, as well as the official visit to China, Turkey and Germany.

“The president of France is coming to visit B&H, as well as many other leaders who want to solve problems with us. The most important thing, in my opinion, is the visit of B&H’s closest leadership of the European Union, headed by the Vice-President of the European Commission B&H, Federica Mogherini, in the mid-September,” said Čović, adding that then everything that has been done on the European path of B&H will be analyzed.

Vice-president of HDZ B&H and President of FB&H, Marinko Čavara, stated that HDZ B&H contributed to the establishment and defense of B&H the most, and today HDZ B&H is party leader on the European path of B&H.

“25 difficult years are behind us and all of us from HDZ can be proud on what we have done in this period. On this day, we have to remember those who are no longer with us as well,” added Čavara.
