The duty prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina was informed by the authorized officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA) of Bosnia and Herzegovina that a quantity of about 320 kilograms of cut tobacco without appropriate excise stamps had been found during the inspection of a vehicle in the vicinity of Sarajevo, the value of which was estimated at about 54,000 BAM.

Following the instructions of the duty prosecutor, the tobacco was eized and confiscated, and the Prosecutor’s Office will be provided with a report against the person who was transporting the said tobacco, due to the committed criminal offense of Illicit Trade in Excise Products, referred to in Article 210a of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Support to the authorized officers of Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA) of Bosnia and Herzegovina was provided by the police officers of the Hadžići Police Station of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of the Interior.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its partner institutions and agencies are conducting activities in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, aimed at detecting and prosecuting persons suspected of illicit trade in large quantities of tobacco and excise products that causes great damage to the budget and the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
