Under the motto “Silk Road of Art,” last night at the National Theatre in Sarajevo was opened the 33rd International Festival Sarajevo Winter.
The festival, which celebrates cultural diversity, creativity, and interconnectedness of artists from all around the world, will last until the 21st March this year. All lovers of culture can enjoy in many performances, exhibitions, concerts and many other events.
Sarajevo Winter was opened with the performance of Indian dance “The Dance of Weaves – Silk in India” which delighted all visitors, together with an exhibition of artists from BiH, Iran, China, India, and Indonesia.
Attendees were able to hear the story of the Indonesian ambassador about how she was producing silk and carpets in the village for 20 years, although she belonged to the highest stratum of society because she was the daughter of the man who liberated Indonesia from colonial powers. Last night she presented her book.
“This is a great story. All this shows that the diversity through creativity creates a community that is open and which has the power to accept the other and different. Sarajevo Winter will discover all the richness of cultural diversity, creativity, and interconnectivity of artists from all around the world,” said the director of the Sarajevo Winter Festival, Ibrahim Spahic.
At this year’s festival will participate 1,500 artists and it is sponsored by the Ambassador of India Rahul Chhabra.
