At the end of December last year, there were 343,500 persons on the records of employment institutes and services in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is 10,823 or 3.06 percent less than in the same month of 2022, and 1,166 or 0.34 percent less than as of November, the data are from the Agency for Labor and Employment of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The number of unemployed in the Republika Srpska in December compared to the previous month was lower by 561 persons or 0.95 percent, in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina by 496 persons or 0.18 percent, and in Brčko District by 109 persons or 0.84 percent.
The Agency states that the data for the Zenica-Doboj canton are unavailable and repeated from June 2022, because the Employment Service of this canton is still in the process of implementing the new information system.
In the records in December, there were the most qualified workers – 107,616 or 31.33 percent of the total number, followed by unqualified persons, 100,103 or 29.14 percent, and persons with secondary education 96,678 or 28.14 percent.
27,705 people with a higher education or 8.07 percent of the total number of people sought work, 5,340 or 1.55 percent of them had a higher education, 5,161 or 1.5 percent had a lower education, and 897 or 0.26 percent are highly qualified workers.
In December, 18,320 persons were deleted from the records of employment services, of which 6,981 were employed.
At the same time, 8,993 people lost their jobs, while employers reported the need to hire 5,667 new workers in this period.
According to the data of the BiH Statistics Agency, in November 2023, the number of employed persons in BiH was 854,680, which is 0.2 percent higher than the previous month.
The rate of registered unemployment for November was 28.7 percent and compared to the previous month it decreased by 0.1 percentage point.
