In Biljani near Ključ, the 34th anniversary of one of the most serious war crimes committed in the Sana Valley, in which members of the Republika Srpska Army killed 258 Bosniak civilians on July 10, 1992, was marked, including five-month-old Amila Džaferović, the youngest victim of the massacre.
The commemoration once again called for the preservation of the culture of memory and the prosecution of those responsible for the crime, for which only one person has been convicted so far.
The commemoration of the anniversary was organized by the Municipality of Ključ and the Majlis of the Islamic Community of Ključ, and the program was held in Biljani with the presence of families of the victims, representatives of religious, political and social life and numerous citizens.
The Mayor of Ključ Municipality, Jasmin Music, pointed out that the number of participants in the commemoration and on foot marches, who symbolically walk the routes taken by the residents of Biljan before they were killed, is increasing year by year.
“The growing number of visitors shows that the goal of Biljani remaining a permanent historical fact and reminder has been achieved. Our obligation is to preserve the memory of what happened here, not to spread hatred, but to protect the truth and build a society in which all peoples and citizens have their place. At the same time, we call on the competent institutions to prosecute those responsible for this and other crimes committed in the Sana Valley,” stated Musić.
During the commemoration, it was emphasized once again that the memory of the victims of Biljan represents a permanent obligation of society, with the message that truth, justice and responsibility remain the key prerequisites for lasting peace and preventing the repetition of similar crimes.
