By adopting the Bill on the Budget of the Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the International Obligations of BiH for 2026, the Presidency of BiH fulfilled its constitutional and legal obligation and enabled the continuation of the budget procedure in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, it was announced from the Cabinet of the Chairman of the Presidency, Denis Bećirović, on the occasion of the unanimous acceptance of the aforementioned act at the Presidency session.

“The data clearly show that during the mandate of the current Presidency of BiH, a continuous growth of investments in key state institutions was achieved. The total budget allocations for these institutions were increased from 1.028 billion BAM in 2022 to 1.541 billion BAM in the Budget Proposal for 2026, which represents an increase of 50%. The budget for foreign policy was increased by 27%, defense by 46%, the security sector by 61%, and the judicial system by 56%. It is particularly significant that the budget of the BiH Ministry of Security increased by 131%, the BiH Intelligence and Security Agency by 82%, the BiH High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council by 117%, the BiH Foreign Affairs Service by 61%, the Directorate for the Coordination of BiH Police Bodies by 49%, the BiH Border Police by 46%, while the allocations for the Srebrenica Memorial Center – Potočari increased by 48%”, it was stated in announcement.

With the adoption of the budget, financial and legal preconditions were created for the realization of increased salaries and benefits of employees in the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This created the conditions for strengthening the defense, security, judicial and diplomatic capacities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for more stable functioning of state institutions, protection of the economic interests of the state and continued fulfillment of international obligations of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The adoption of the budget confirmed the responsibility towards the state and its citizens.

The largest budget increases are aimed at the Ministry of Defense of BiH, the Administration for Indirect Taxation of BiH, the Border Police of BiH, the Ministry of Security of BiH, the Intelligence and Security Agency of BiH, SIPA, IDDEEA and the Directorate for the Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH, i.e. institutions that play a key role in protecting the constitutional order, the safety of citizens and the functioning of the state. The Ministry of Defense of BiH alone receives an additional more than 50 million KM, while significant increases are also planned for the institutions responsible for the protection of the state border of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the fight against organized crime, the management of identification documents and the strengthening of the overall security system of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it was also pointed out in the announcement of Bećirović’s cabinet.
