The 34th International Sarajevo Winter Festival 2018 under the slogan “The other face of the world” opened on Wednesday evening in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH) capital Sarajevo.

The opening ceremony was marked by a concert of the Guardian Orchestra of Bulgaria “Meeting cultures From Brass to Jazz”, dedicated to Bulgarian Chairmanship of the Council of the European Union (EU) and the opening ceremony of the 34th International Sarajevo Winter Festival 2018.

The 43-day festival is dedicated to “The other face of the world”, a face that connects and does not divide, and a face that builds and does not break down.

“Sarajevo Winter is for 25 years organized under the auspices of UNESCO and the Council of Europe,” the director of the International Festival Sarajevo Winter Ibrahim Spahic said.

The festival gathers 1,500 artists from 43 countries.

Since 1984, the festival aims to celebrate the richness of cultural diversity, creativity and the interconnectedness of artists from all over the world.

The honorable guest of the festival is the Republic of Bulgaria, and the special guests are the countries organizers of the Olympic Winter and Summer Games from 2018 to 2020, China, South Korea and Japan. Enditem
