The Minister of Transport in the Sarajevo Canton Government, Adnan Šteta, announced that from Sunday evening, trams will run from Ilidža to Baščaršija.

This completes the reconstruction of the tram line in Sarajevo, which began in 2021.

The reconstruction cost a total of more than 40 million BAM, and the money was secured by a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

“From tonight, trams run from Ilidža to Baščaršija. Everything I had to say about the construction of the Sarajevo railway, I think I have said. It wasn’t easy for anyone, but we’re not going back. Let’s move forward, because we have a lot of work to do to get the best public transportation. May the new Sarajevo railway be a source of pride for all of us and the generations to come. There will always be more than a project for each of us. Thank you workers, thank you colleagues, thank you citizens, thank you Sarajevo,” wrote the Minister Steta on his Facebook profile.
