The Federal Minister of Physical Planning (FMPP) Josip Martic and the administrator of the “Udrim” Monastery, Archpriest Stavrofor Zoran Zivkovic, signed an agreement 3 days ago in Gostovic by which the FMPP will co-finance the development of that monastery.
Financial resources in the amount of 80.000 BAM were allocated to this monastery through a public call from the field of protection of national monuments, the FMPP announced.
”We have previously supported the restoration of the “Udrim” monastery, so I am convinced that this year’s funds will speed up the restoration process of this important medieval monastery,” said Minister Martic, adding that the completion of the work on this cultural asset is extremely important for the Serbian Orthodox Church and all its believers.
Archpriest Stavrofor Zoran Zivkovic thanked Minister Martic for his support so far regarding the renovation of the “Udrim” monastery, stressing that without the support of the institutions, they would not have been able to carry out the extensive renovation of this building so thorougly, which is of inestimable value.
Zivkovic presented letters of thanks to Minister Martic and his assistants Ljuba Tadic and Zdravko Buljeta for their help in the renovation of the monastery.
The “Udrim” Monastery belongs to the Orthodox Metropolitanate of Dabar-Bosnia and is located near Zavidovici. It was built in the 14th century and destroyed approximately 300 years ago during the Austrian-Turkish war. During the archeological research, which was carried out by the Museum from Doboj, objects from the Middle Ages were found in its ruins.
