The European food safety monitoring system has warned of the presence of the banned pesticide chlorpyrifos in fruit produced in Croatia.
It is a pesticide that is particularly dangerous for children, and was discovered in tangerines in Croatia and Slovenia.
After testing the fruit, it was determined that a prohibited pesticide was found in the fruit in an amount of 0.033 mg/kg, while the maximum allowed amount is 0.01 mg/kg, writes 24 sata. This non-systemic insecticide is used to control soil insects.
It is said to be associated with disorders in the development of the brain, attention and hormonal system in children.
