Sarajevo lawyer Sead Miljkovic filed a criminal complaint against those who he believes violated the law because they did not take the measures prescribed by law and announced which bottled water contained bacteria that should not have been there.
As a natural person, Miljkovic filed a criminal complaint against an unknown person, because he believes that a series of criminal acts were committed in connection with bottled water in which Escherichia coli, pseudomonas and streptococcal bacteria were found, which should not have been present in accordance with the current regulations, thereby endangering citizens’ health, but also in connection with bottled waters whose composition did not correspond to the parameters on the product declaration.
To recall, the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs in Sarajevo emphasized yesterday that they did not find bottled water on sale for which the entity’s institute determined contained bacteria that should not have been there.
“In order to protect the health of the citizens of Canton Sarajevo (CS) and because of the existence of precautionary measures, the control of the trade of bottled drinking water in retail and wholesale establishments will continue, and the public will be informed in a timely manner about possible irregularities,” it was pointed out by the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs in Sarajevo.
It is important to emphasize that in the institute’s statement from December 9th, key information was missing, and that is how is the producer of the water in which the bacteria were found. In this institution, they believe that they are not competent to publish this information, because their “authorities end with the delivery of monitoring results to the competent administration for inspection affairs”.
Even though the Institute for Public Health of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) did not publish key data, there was no reaction by any other institution, except for the Ombudsman for Consumer Protection of BiH. When it comes tothe political parties, there were two reactions, by the entity parliamentarian of the Party for BiH (Stranka za BiH – SBiH)Admir Cavalic, who sent a representative question, and the Our Party (Nasa stranka), who also asked for the announcement of the manufacturer of the bottled water in which bacteria were found that should not have been there, Klix.ba reports.
