Unknown persons threw a Molotov cocktail last night at the only preserved pre-war synagogue in Warsaw that still serves as a place of worship and tried to set it on fire, the Polish police said.

“The Metropolitan Police Command received a report of an attempt to set fire to the Nožika Synagogue in Warsaw. The police are investigating the matter,” Jacek Wisniewski from the Warsaw Police told the Polish news agency PAP.

“Rabbi Sudrich writes that someone tried to set fire to the synagogue with the help of a Molotov cocktail. Thank God, no one was hurt. Interesting, who is trying to disrupt the anniversary of our entry into the European Union?” reacted on the social network X the head of Polish diplomacy Radoslav Sikorski .

That synagogue has been under renovation since 2008.
