A Story from the flooded Village of Trusina: I am Admir, this Ruin behind was my House

Shocking stories from flooded areas are coming every moment. Stories about the struggle for life, about the horror that befell our compatriots cannot leave anyone indifferent.

In one moment, what a person has been building all life disappears. It was carried away by wild water. In one night, it erases all the effort and work that lasted for years. Admir and hundreds of other people from flooded areas survived the nightmare and were left with nothing.

“I am Admir Poturovic, who lived in this house that was located, which you see here behind us, in a dilapidated state. It all started after midnight when I came home from work, that’s when the fight with the water element started, which, as it seemed, didn’t lead to anything terrible, so much so, because we’ve encountered it before. However, around two o’clock and in the middle of the night, the situation worsened minute by minute. First, there was a wave that swept away the greenhouses and the barn with the animal. It took the tractor, the car, it threw it out of the garage here above the house. I woke up my wife and father and they got involved to try to defend what can be defended,” he begins the story of the battle he led.

Admir told that the water suddenly burst into his house.

“We retreated to the first floor, and then a sudden intrusion of water started into the house, breaking out the windows, doors, and walls. Then I tried to open this front door that was there, so that the water would flow through the house. However, that door came crashing down on me and I was pressed there. I held them with my hands as long as I could, then I started to give in, I lost strength, it grabbed my legs and I had the feeling that it was tearing off both of my legs,” says Admir.

“My father and wife could not help me from the stairway. At one point, I took my hands, pushed that door. They were knocked out on the other side, under the pressure of the water. And then the mud covered me. I was lucky enough, or I don’t even know how, but I grabbed the doorway and swam to the surface. Then I came back again, thanks to a rope thrown to me by my wife and father.” brave Admir describes his beaver for life.

The daughter shouted: The house is bursting

”I returned to the stairway and went upstairs to change. In the meantime, my older daughter ran into our room and just shouted, the house is exploding! We all came down, we came out here, we held each other. We pulled out up here on this main road. Then we saw how the garage, the terrace and half of the house were falling away and the water was carrying it all away. We went to my cousin and neighbor here. Since I was injured, my cousin took me to the emergency room in Konjic. But I told him, by the time we get back, there won’t be a house at all. And when we got back, it was stacked like a house of cards. And that’s all that was left. That’s it.” Ahmed said, according to N1.

He was left staring at the ruin in which he had invested his whole life. We know Ahmed will start again, from the ground up. We are the ones who need to help him this time, as well as all his fellow citizens.

You have the opportunity for that today since N1, TV Nova and the association Pomozi.ba organize the humanitarian show ”Za nase ljude” (”For our people”).
