An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale struck the Atacama region in central Chile, the European Mediterranean Seismological Center announced.
The earthquake occurred yesterday, 123 kilometers northwest of La Serena, at an estimated depth of 30 kilometers.
So far, there are no reports of material damage or casualties.
