The Appeals Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has handed down a second-instance verdict by which Zijad Srabovic, Refik Morankic, Ahmet Bajric, Abid Arapcic, Pasaga Cajic, Mirsad Zilic, and Samir Dzambic were found guilty of war crimes against the civilian population.

The accused have been finally sentenced to a total of 30 years in prison, namely Zijad Srabovic and Refik Morankic to six years each, Ahmet Bajric to seven, Abid Arapcic to five, and Pasaga Cajic, Mirsad Zilic, and Samir Dzambic to two years each.

They were found guilty of inhumane treatment, unlawful detention, torture, and murder of civilians detained in facilities in Lukavac from June to October 1992.

Srabovic was assistant commander for security of the Territorial Defense Headquarters in Lukavac, Morankic was the commander of the Fikina Jedinica (Fiko’s Unit), and the other accused were members of that unit or military police officers.

Their trial began in June 2019, and this case also included Senaid Cosic, who has meanwhile passed away.
