The Council of Ministers of BiH adopted the Information of the Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees according to which the Institute for Missing Persons verified about 20,000 cases of missing persons so far, which is about 75 % of the total number of missing persons in BiH.
According to this information, the verification process will continue, as it must be completed for all persons who are still missing, as announced from the Council of Ministers of BiH.
The Missing Persons Institute of BiH will speed up the process of verification of cases of missing persons, and regarding this, they will regularly, at least once a year, inform the Joint Committee for Human Rights of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH through the Council of Ministers of BiH.
The Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees will, with the aim of the implementation of decisions of the Constitutional Court, start the initiative for the harmonization of the Law on Missing Persons and entity laws that are regulating the rights of civil war victims in BiH.
This ministry is responsible to start the process of negotiations for an amendment to Agreement on taking over the role of the co-founders of The Missing Persons Institute of BiH with the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), in accordance with the opinion of the Council of Ministers of BiH and the initiative of ICMP.
The Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees will submit this information and opinions to the Joint Committee for Human Rights of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.
