The Sarajevo Cantonal Court Council today sentenced Adem Šuman to a single sentence of 40 years in prison for the murder of young man Faris Pendek, which occurred in January 2024 in the Sarajevo neighborhood of Otoka.

Šuman was found guilty of murder committed as part of reckless violent behavior. According to the indictment, on January 28 of last year, at around 11:30 p.m., without a driver’s license and without apparent reason, he cut off the path of four young men in a Citroen with his car.

Approaching their car, Šuman addressed them with the words: “Why are you looking at me, stop here?!”, and then, without getting out of the vehicle, he hit the two young men with his fist through the open window, and then with the butt of a gun. Finally, he fired a shot that hit Faris Pendek in the chest and killed him.

Elmedin Gradišić and Mersim Saljević, who were charged with aiding and abetting a criminal offense, were also included in this court proceeding.

Elmedin Gradišić was sentenced to one year in prison for the criminal offense of Aiding and abetting a criminal offense under Article 346, paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Time served in custody will be credited towards his sentence.

Mersim Saljević was acquitted of the charges.
