The young man Adnan Šemić from Mostar has passed away, because of which the Law on Transplantation of Organs and Tissues for the Purpose of Treatment in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was changed.

This information was confirmed for Klix.ba by Adnan’s friend.

Šemić united the government and the opposition in the FBiH when this law was amended so that he could undergo a liver transplant.

More precisely, he was diagnosed with Wilson’s disease and the situation was such that no one from his family was a compatible donor.

A man from Obrenovac in Serbia who was 100% compatible by blood group called. Turkish doctors said that they are ready to come and perform this very complicated procedure in our country.

Since transplantation was not possible in Turkey or Bosnia and Herzegovina because the donor was not his relative, the Law on Transplantation of Organs and Tissues for the Purpose of Treatment in FBiH was amended within a few days.
Most countries have similar laws to prevent abuse.

The transplant was supposed to be done these days in the Tuzla hospital, when the arrival of a doctor from Turkey was also expected.
