The Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry of the Federation of BiH, Vedran Lakić, stated today that after three decades, the Federation of BiH is once again getting a functional terminal for the delivery, storage and transshipment of oil and oil derivatives. – This is a strategic project for the entire Federation of BiH and a major step towards energy security and stability of supply for citizens and the economy. I am particularly proud that the Blažuj Terminal is ready for operation and connection to the sea terminal in Ploče – added Lakić.
It was emphasized that this success is the result of the work of the Government of the Federation of BiH led by Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić, who from the very beginning of his mandate emphasized that the priority is the creation of a modern and reliable energy sector, resistant to crises and market changes. It is through projects such as these that the Federation of BiH gains stronger institutions, more secure supply and greater trust of citizens.
The Blažuj Terminal, with a capacity of 42,000 m³ (42 million liters of oil and gasoline), after the completion of the works and the obtained permits, is ready to receive the first quantities of fuel by rail. In the past period, the railway crossing and industrial track were repaired, and a fuel supplier for the functional test was selected through public procurement.
This gave the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for the first time in 30 years, the possibility of transporting large quantities of oil and derivatives by rail, storing them and reloading them onto tanker trucks. Connecting the sea terminal in Ploče and the land terminal in Blažuj ensures safe transport and strengthens the capacity for mandatory reserves in accordance with EU directives.
During his visit, Minister Lakić met with the President of the Management Board Damir Kres and Member of the Management Board Adrijana Zarinković. According to them, the completion of this project returns the Blažuj Terminal to the key energy capacities of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and confirms the key role of the Federation Terminal Operator (OTF) – not only as a keeper of reserves, but also as a builder of trust and security in supply.
During the visit, the progress of work at the Terminal in Bihać was discussed, as well as projects related to the reconstruction and renovation of the terminals in Živnice and Mostar, the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
