After Floods: 25 new Houses ready for Residents to live

New Houses in Željezno Polje nap.baConstruction of 25 houses has been completed in the settlement Donja Golubinja in the Žepče Municipality and the families moved in their new homes yesterday.

The official opening of the new settlement in Donja Golubinja was attended by the Ambassador of Switzerland to B&H Heinrich Maurer, the Mayor of the Žepče Municipality Mato Zovko, Director of Catholic Relief Services Switzerland Marc D’Silva, representatives of the companies Wienerberger and Tondach, and representatives of the local community Željezno Polje.

Mustafa Čović from Željezno Polje lost is house in a landslide during last year’s floods.

“I am very satisfied with these houses and with what has been done here. These people here are the happiest people in the world today, and we wholeheartedly thank those who have built new homes for us,” Čović said.

The new houses will serve as a replacement for what was destroyed in floods and provide a home for 40 families. Caritas Switzerland also reconstructed a part of water system and 5 hectares of plantations of berries.
