The Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Czech Republic, Martina Mlinarević, met in Prague with the Head of the Department for International Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Emil Ruffer, in order to exchange instruments of ratification of the Agreement on Social Security signed between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Czech Republic.

With this agreement, when applying legal regulations in the field of health and social care, citizens of another country are equated with citizens of their own country. For example, the agreement guarantees the insured the right to provide urgent and necessary health care in another country at the expense of their insurance company.

When it comes to pension rights, according to the agreement, both countries will take into account the length of insurance in the other country in cases where the insured person does not complete the required insurance period in that country to receive a pension. The contract also regulates the summation of insurance periods in the area of unemployment benefits or the recognition of claims for financial compensation in the event of an accident at work or occupational disease.

In addition to the agreement on economic cooperation, the agreement on the promotion and protection of investments and the agreement on the avoidance of double taxation, this is another agreement that contributes to the development of economic cooperation between the Czech Republic and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Together with the agreement on social security, an administrative agreement was signed, which establishes cooperation mechanisms between the relevant institutions of the two countries. Both treaties will replace the Social Security Convention and the Administrative Agreement of 1957.

The treaty will enter into force one month after the exchange of instruments of ratification.
